Hi All,

I have an 07 Tahoe w/ 45k miles that I need to take in for an oil change. The dealership recommended that I also get a fuel service ($279) and engine oil flush ($129). They said that these are standard services that should be performed at 30k miles.

Based on your experience, are these services required so soon? I'm guessing that the way these automobiles are built nowadays, they can go up to 100k without it. Plus I've heard horror stories about cars having issues AFTER getting these types of services.

I would skip both of these barring any first hand visuals or other concerns that would lead you to believe it would be beneficial.

Something I would look to do sometime in the near future, probably a little higher around 55-60k maybe is a trans flush, or atleast a drain and filter change. Again, that timeframe is somewhat dependent on vehicle usage and fluid appearance.

maybe the "fuel service" means taking off the throttle body and intake and giving it a deep clean? I would do this at 45k if you havent done it already...

danni04,

GM Vehicles under normal usage do not require any additional procedures or additives beyond what is advised under the former Vehicle Maintenance Schedules or the current Simplified Maintenance Schedules.

Thank you,
Caron, GM Customer Service
