Yesterday I replaced the fuel pump in out 1996 Tahoe. I live in the South so the closest my trucks get to salt is if my wife buys some at the groceries and salt is one of them. When I pulled the tank down and removed the skid plate it came apart. Since I plan on in the future doing some minor wheeling, exploration, and camping. So I'm not interested in doing serious wheeling I just want protection for minor wheeling that will insure trouble free to and from our off road destination

4dr 4wd. Thing with a sticker is I'll have to buy one. So why not instead of buying an OE replacement why not see what's available in the aftermarket

unknown at this time.
Not much in aftermarket accept for vehicle armor services. However the oem is part # 15733211 at about $95 at gmpartsgiant.com and dealers. Take it have it plated or rhino-lined for better protection this time around.

This one shouldn't have any issues. Because in Alabama we very rarely see snow. The last one was rusted through in several spots and damaged. One thing I can day after spending all weekend under it is these trucks could use more under body protection. Did the Z71 trucks come with a skid plate package that I could bolt on to protect the front differential area? It has a rinky **** ass plastic shroud behind the radiator. Since there really isn't a suitable upgrade I guess I will get an OEM gas tank skid plate.

open the glove box and see if it says Z71 on the RPO codes list. if it does you have an unmarked Z71 like mine was, if not then you don't have a real Z71.
