My fuel pump is going bad and my tank is likely too rusty to put it back in. There are no aftermarket ones as far as I can tell and a new OEM one is like $600. Has anyone used a similar one from a different GM truck that fits? If not next stop is the junkyard for me.

I could not find one at RA or Amazon and the 2 numbers I found are 20757344 and 23138362 that is a superceded number from 20912107. They look different from each other.

Look at GMPartsWarehouse.com for them. They are over $500.

Tahoe fuel tank on ground_resized.jpg

My '04 LT's tank is plastic. Did the fuel pump a few months back, just the pump, using the old lock ring. Tank metal ring was good, too, but we don't have a lot of rust in these here parts. (You can take that two ways...)

Pic is with new fuel pump installed. YMMV Rust is from where it touches the frame.

Yup. Plastic. Just make sure you don't knock a bunch of rust into it during replacement. I live in salt/rust central. My pump didn't even die. The lines rusted out and it was shooting fuel under the truck. Lol. I used a new lock ring and sprayed the head of the new pump with bedliner. Sprayed the straps, too. Here is before and after.

I pressure washed my tank inside and out and wiped it with a rag before replacing the pump. Wanted to be sure there weren’t more charcoal pellets or trash floating in it.
