Well was an interesting evening yesterday. I was reversing out of my driveway and I heard a bang. So I parked the Hoe knowing something F*cked up. Well this morning I decided to limp the truck to my buddies shop down the street and started hearing a faint howling noise. At first we thought it was a U joint but once it in the air we noticed oil leaking from the center of the diff cover we knew it wasn't good. Cover comes off and a tooth from the pinion gear had snapped off and punctured the diff cover. Now here's my question, could the G80 Locker still be fine there was no visible signs of damage. My buddy thinks that replacing the gears and all should be fine. I just heard too many horror stories about the G80's

So the G80 locker has gone bye bye than. Buddy thinks pinion bearing was gone and caused the pinion gear to snap.

Is it a pretty straight forward swap or does it require new bearings or anything else?

unknown at this time.
the g80 can still be good but get rid of it if you can. And for the tru-trac, different master kit is needed because of bigger journal but kit is as available as the regular one.

Put a detroit tru-trac in there instead. best choice really.

+1. I put a trutrac in when I swapped to the 14 bolt SF. Not just stronger, but better traction everywhere, better steering in the snow and ice. I was amazed how much better the trutrac was over any G80 I've ever had. Not just a little better, it's in a whole different league. Better than my Eaton LSD as well. The Eaton was much better than the G80, and the Trutrac is much better than the Eaton LSD.

Well my Hoe is all fixed, Detroit Truetrac installed and she runs great. It feels like the Hoe has more power or maybe because I wasn't driving it for a week...lol Only downside is having an empty wallet, wow that SH*T gets expensive but living in Canada we get screwed every time buying parts.
Thanks for your help everybody.
