My prediction(not worth much, LOL) is the sales & prices will level for Large SUVs as there will still be the need. They're just not many options available as now (or inventory) and people still need family haulers.

Also I see prices of ordinary sedans going up as people flock to smaller more gas-friendly cars. as of now, sedan prices have not been out of control as SUVs and Trucks.

That said, with food & oil prices moving higher and higher, we could very well be on the brink of the next big recession... :(

I filled the Yukon up on Sunday with 87 @ 4.79 a gal and had to wait in a long line like it was not 1974 all over again.

91 was priced @ 5.25 a gal and that is what I have to run in my Ram with a 33gal tank...

I'll run the # again in case we don't remember them... Current day...

6.2 around town 15 mpg with Premium at 4.89 25 Gal = 375 miles@ 125.00 .33 a mile

3.0 around town 25 mpg with Diesel at 4.79 25 Gal = 625 miles@ 120.00 .19 a mile

And for the 5.3 Crowd 17 MPG around town with RUL @4.29 25 gal = 425 miles@ 117.00 .25 a mile

Not to mention if ( and a big if..) shortages would come to pass. There won't be any lines for Diesel and they won't be out....

Thats why I'm an all-diesel fleet...

It definitely has made a difference historically. Big SUV sales have gone dead in the past when fuel prices were high.
Even with a Diesel, which is near impossible to get right now because of constraints, my local diesel fuel prices run higher than gas so any savings is evened out...
I was wondering the same thing. But there is a lot of money out there right now. Even if gas doubles from $2.50 to $5.00, will the extra $1500-2000 a year in fuel costs really matter to everyone willing to pay $5-10K over MSRP?

I have never purchased a vehicle based on its gas mileage, its always been more about the utility of the vehicle and whether or not it checks those boxes, mileage is usually an afterthought. But I also don't drive a lot so it's never been a big impact to the budget. That being said, the new Denali has me at the pump more than my 2019 Tahoe did, granted, it is still new and only have about 1500 miles on it so will hopefully get a little better with age. Gas prices ebb and flow, right now they are flowing massively but this likely short term while the kinks are working themselves out. $5-7/gallon gas prices are not sustainable and likely will not be forever.

The gas near me has gone up about $1 or so /gallon since last year, so overall $24-30/tank. I guess for those filling 1x per week that could pose a challenge but if you're buying a $70-80K SUV and can't swallow a short term shift in gas prices you might want to consider a lower priced vehicle. Sorry if that comes off as a dick thing to say but in reality, if you're spending $7, 8, 9 or even $1000 a month on a car then you should be prepared to spend a little more at the pump as most cars in these price ranges are not known for their efficiency unless its a tesla (I would never in my wildest spend $1000 a month on a vehicle but many do).

Not selling my truck for a smaller vehicle no matter what. It's paid for and safe. Have been paying an average of twenty-six cents a mile in the new year. Paid $4.699 per gallon last night. Just took a 20% pay cut too but still not going to buy a small death trap.

In 2008 we had gas prices like this. Of course, we had two back to back trips planned during that time which cost us about $1000 in fuel.

On the flip side, nice, high performance trucks will be available soon for a song. That is what my youngest daughter is counting on! 6.2 NHT Sierra is on her radar like her big sister's truck. Remember the artificial gas crises of the 1970s? Lots of muscle cars sold for near nothing. This too shall pass.

How much does DEF cost?
Well I’ve spent a grand total of 8.00$ so far in 8k miles at Walmart. I doubt if I could spend 40.00 a year on it.. every body says “yeah, but diesel maintenance is so much higher”
I spend a total of appx 150 a year in oil changes, 35.00 for a fuel filter and maybe 40 a year in DEF. All vehicles get oil changes, so my extra cost just for diesel is about 75 bucks a year. Negligible in my opinion for extended range and mpg…..

DEF at the local Circle K gas/Diesel car & truck stop was $3.79 a gallon. 5 gallon tank of DEF should on average last more than 3 tankful's of diesel fuel. No shortage because the over the road and local delivery trucks fill up every day there. Not a big issue

People are flush with money let's see for how long.

I certainly would not be taking delivery with this amount of uncertainty in geopolitics, oil pricing and runaway inflation. This is the second gut punch to our overleveraged economy in so many years and I believe we are teetering on the edge of the biggest correction in many years. I could be wrong but I fear I am right.
WHY not just buy gas in advance GO TO a local coin store and buy some quarters or halfs (at the moment don't pay more then 24-25x face value) Now you have secured a gallon of gas of future purchase....

As 1 silver quarter buys 1 gallon of gas since 1964....... right now you can buy a silverquarter for 5.75-6$ same price as a gallon of gas

WERE FACING $300-350 a barrel which means $12-19 a gallon gas prices .

THEN A MASSIVE CRASH of the economy afterwards BIGGER then 1929 ...... (think USD currency crash to 0 value)

i all ready traded my fiat money for silver quarters and secured 4000 gallons of gas. futures... i was able to get my coinage at 22-23x fv

fill it when ever you can this way you can do cost mitigation or cost averaging esp if it's on the way home the gas station

when prices fall use whats in the tank... cost averaging for my fuel is $3.50 even though prices are at 5.70 a gallon since only 2-3 gallons are at the higher price

i got 15 gallons worth of fuel I paid 2.30 a gallon...

the gas stations near by are running out of gas completely. we might go to an odd/even system again I have spare lic plates i can use
