Hey 1882, I posted a similar question to yours since I did not want to hijack your thread. But will follow yours as well. I have been reading up and it could be as simple as bad connection to cluster (there is you tube video on this fix), or just bad electronics/power supply, etc...) You have similar problem to me i think.

Are you experiencing any power drain on battery?

I've taken the cluster out and even wiggled the connector and nothing. for a while i would just smack the cluster a couple times and it would come back on but wont anymore. no drain that i can tell.

over the weekend, I am going to pull mine and see. But I think it is computer based/chip problem inside the cluster.

Check out this video. I am going to try this.

Basically, see if you can pinpoint problem by touching various parts of circuit board with non conductive element like eraser.

Damn. I was hoping it would work. I am going to try too. But I think mine is beyond repair too. Did you try the other fix with pins? another youtube video. Guy pulled the pins out and bent them a bit. But your backlight was working, so that is probably not the issue...

I am looking to order from the CT company from ebay. They will send you a unit, with tranny temp for 250ish, but you have to send your untampered core back to them. seems like you can send your unit to be returned, or they will send you one before and charge you core charge until they get yours back. No shipping out, but you pay for shipping core back.

I just replaced my cluster from digital dash solutions on ebay. They have a form you print out and you list your mileage and engine hours and he programs it into the new cluster. Then either fax it or scan and email it to him. Then you call him to confirm what you want and you can pay over the phone with a card.

I bought a rebuilt unit and paid the $200 core charge so i had no down time with the truck.

He shipped it fast and the cluster was in perfect shape.
