I recently bought an 03 Tahoe LT with a few concerns I need to address.

The light for the shifter selector, (PRNDL) is not working. There is also a bulb out at the top of the speedometer.I understand that bulbs cannot be replaced in the gauge panel like in previous models. Is there another solution to this?

The steering wheels control for the stereo work, but not the buttons for the information center. The message center works as I see the odometer, reset the oil change correctly and it tells me when a door is unsecured. I was told that it is possible the gauge panel was switched out with one from another vehicle and this is why the buttons do not work. Any truth to that?

The heated seat switch works for the passenger seat. The drivers side switch turns on then immediately off and will not stay on. Idea to fix that?

Thanks for any input. As I repair these or upgrade I will post up.

As far as the gauge light is concerned, I would do an led swap. You're going to have to take the whole cluster apart anyway. 03 and up the lights are soldered into the circuit board and CAN be fixed with a new bulb and soldering iron, but LEDs are much brighter and last longer.

I read the thread on the led conversion. it seems pretty simple and i think i can complete it. in the same write up i looked over the attached pics and dont see where a light reflects the shifter selector. it appears it may be a stand alone piece. can this be separately obtained and replaced from gm or a donor vehicle?

any ideas on how to test the steering wheel controls for the information center?

The info center and gear indicator ARE stand alone pieces.. I just left mine alone for now until I could find a solution to get them to match the blue LEDs I put in. What are you trying to do with the steering wheel controls?

can the gear indicator be replaced? mine doesnt work. as for the steering wheel controls, they are not working the info center. the radio buttons on it work. im trying to get them to work or determine if the gauge panel is a replacement from another vehicle.
with all that needs to be done, im debating to either fix the gauge panel or replace it.

as for the seat problem i read the thread on it. that can wait till later. really donbt need heated seats in georgia

have '03 with malfunctioning water temp guage and speedo light out. After several hours on the internet, I have found Dr. Speedometer out of Granby MO. He offers full replacement of all lights and guage drivers, free shipping both ways, lifetime wty, for $189. this is less than a 1/3 of what i was quoted by dealer. This may be a solution for you. Anyone else have any experience with Inst. Cluster rebuilders?
