give faster acceleration...when you add bigger tires, etc, it kills to low end...lower gears helps get that faster acceleration back.

I'll try to give a really simple explanation. Higher number = shorter gears, lower numbers = higher gears.

High number, shorter ratio, IE: 4.10
+ Better acceleration
+ Better city gas milage, like stop and go traffic for example
+ When going to bigger tires, or heavy, oversized wheels, will help bring back power lost when going to the larger/heavier tires

- Worse highway milage
- More RPM pulled at cruising speeds, can cause drone in the cabin if RPMs are too high when cruising

Lower number, higher ratio, IE: 3.42
+ Better highway milage

- Less city milage
- Less power

3.73 is what many of our stock Yukons, Denalis, and Tahoes use, and is a good blend of milage and power.

Someone will correct me on prices but expect $500 plus to regear the rear. Double that if youre 4x4 because you get to do the front too. this isnt something you want to do yourself either, you need dial indicators and expierence, otherwise they will be toast in 200 miles.

Are you all stock? stock size tires? if so, put your money into a CAI, exhaust, programming, ect. you will get more out of it without the mileage loss.

3.73 is great. 4.10 if you go 33s or bigger

You do not need or want 4:30s 4:10's max I run 4:10's in my NBS but its a toy and a backup vehicle, my NNBS has 3:73's and a CIA, and a edge its my SD tho. My NBS is highly modified and is a beast. But i also have a E4L80 trans with the Compushift harness and a full synod tune. I am at 3400 RPMs at about 85MPH to give you an idea with the 4:10s and stock size tires.

As of now im running all stock except for my CAI. but z-56 hoe r u saying that the 4.10 will bring my top speed down?

If this helps im going to put some 20in wheels and a 3/4-5 drop on it(depending how much my subs r going to drop the back it down)
Later down the road im going to try to get some lpp heads with dual exhaust + bb tune.

with that said, the goal here is to get more acceleration off the line.

Depending on how much power you want, look into a 6.0 swap with a BB tune. Rather than dumping a bunch of money into a 5.3, you can swap in a 6.0 and be halfway there already.
