So in a month I think im gonna change my wheels out for some winter rims & tires. Already had to replace a tire for my 22's due to a broken belt (you should see the pics, it's nasty lookin') so I want to switch them out ASAP before another tire needs to be replaced. Planning on selling them over winter and don't want to spend more money on them. When I bought them I knew I didn't have much time on them but was hoping to atleast go all spring/summer on them. Sadly that didn't happen.

Anyways, going with Cragar Soft 8 16's. What's the biggest tire size I can run without these rubbing even when I got the wheel cranked all the way? I know this question has been asked a few times but it's hard finding an exact answer. These are the exact ones im buying, just waiting for a good Summit coupon code to come around:

Then gonna call a few places to find some good but cheap used tires. What should I look for when buying used tires? Any things to look out for?

I run 285/75/16's with no problem at all. And if i were you i would buy a sett of Nitto Terra Grappler's, for a new tire the pretty cheap and they last forever. Dad got 50k out of a set with more tred left on em.

How much do those go for? Because I can find a set of 4 used tires with 75%+ tread for $150-200.

copycat...hehe j/k. 285/75/16 is the size you're looking for. My nittos cost me a grand installed, but i'm running 17" rims. My tires were also more expensive because I went with the 10ply LT tires.

You don't want wide for the snow, just the opposite, more narrow and taller sidewall. Go to Alaska, remote regions of Canada or even the UP or Minnesota and you'll see serious guys running something along the lines of 9.5 x 16.5's and such.

For 16's and a dedicated snow tire, I'd stick with 245/60's in something like General Altimax Arctics.

Thanks for the help guys. Should be ordering the Cragars in less than a week and getting the tires as soon as the Cragars arrive.

I really don't want narrow tires even though they are better for snow, but I guess if I can't find a nice set of used 285/75's then il get a 245.
