Hey all,

Drove through a TON of yellow line-marking paint recently (had no idea that I had done it at the time -- no cones or anything... Grr...). I was able to get the paint off of my truck's paint with a clay bar and effort, but there's still a lot sprayed up all around the wheel well liners. Some of the individual specks come off relatively easily with a fingernail/credit card scraping, but there's some stuff that looks like it was put on with a roller, and doesn't want to come off so easily.

Any suggestions?

In one sense, it's easier to pick away at some of the paint when it's all dry and hard. But, I'm wondering if I should be using something on the heavier stuff to soften/loosen it first.

Worst case scenario, I get new liners. But I'd rather not have to do that.

Let me know what has WORKED FOR YOU, please. Thanks!

Don't buy new liners, they run about $70/ea. Whenever we put new liners on, they always have the GM PN stickers on them. We use regular old paint thinner to take off the glue, and it doesn't discolor the plastic. That is what I would use!

Thanks, NJ. Thought about putting it here after the fact...

Paint thinner? I have nothing to lose by giving that a try. Thanks.

I use wax and grease remover on the painted portions of my truck, not sure what it would do on the liners though.

It's pretty safe stuff as along as you stay attentive and don't take a phone call or walk away while using.

Aircraft Paint Remover is extreme. Just use regular paint thinner, it will come right off. Less fumes than the aircraft Paint remover.

Funny story about that stuff. We had a guy in our shop that was working on the boss' 84 Monte Carlo, and took it upon himself to use about 2 gallons of that crap, with all the doors closed before any of us got there. Everyone of us got sick within minutes. Took over an hour to get the vapors out of the shop with all doors opened. The guy using the thinner - never wore a mask, never got sick. Thats some strong shit.

They have a adhesive version. Man that stuff is great. If you ever have to remove any gum from something. Give it a try.
