I have to assume that the factory Chevy headlights w/ 4 bulbs have better output for night driving as compared to the 2 bulb GMC lights?

are there pics anywhere of this? currently debating what to buy and not planning to mod headlights or swap anything out possibly ever. but for 6 months of the year a lot of my driving to/from work is in the dark on open highways so I need good headlights.

So that's a random topic but doesn't state what vehicle you own, but I have a Yukon and think the lights suck so I cut them open. Fitted them with FX-R projectors and super bright with no nighttime issues. Old Yukon had the 4 lights with Mini H1s projectors on low with bi-xenon enabled for highs. Think those lights had more output then just my FX-R highs but the beam patterns were way different so hard to say. You can get more light with 4 bulbs over 2 any day.

I don't own either, I'm shopping. And I haven't had a chance to drive anything at night. Thanks

the better light will be HID (projector lens) all the rest is insignificant.

I like projectors but I don't want want to retrofit though. A quality halogen setup that throws light in the right places is perfectly acceptable to me. I don't like HID lights. My eyes see better at night with a yellower light, hence why I like halogen. Plus brighter immediately in front isn't necessarily better. I want light thrown out father to see objects, bright close in just makes you experience a bit of open field myopia.

Brandon, you obviously have not seen in person a high end projector fitted with 4500k hids.
At 35 watts they are identical to oem halogen color.
At 55 watts they are godly in light output and look like a high end halogen in color.
Combined with the fact they throw the light way down the road.
Oem reflector buckets are no where near the quality of a good projector in terms of light dispersal pattern.

There is no blue at all. Only white with a hint on amber.
4500k at 55 is my preferred color temp, like you, i like the oem look. But being hid, i get the benefit of superior lumens.

On a side note. If you dont want to mod your headlights. May i suggest a good projector driving light with hids in them.
This is what mine look like with 55w 4500k in them.

I have ridden in my friends BMW with auto leveling hid and they were pretty sweet.

Our Honda odyssey has halogen projectors that are quite amazing. No reason to mod those or run hid.

If I were to replace the fogs, I would only be interested in yellow.

None of this answers my question though. How do the factory GMC lights compare to the Chevy, or is there no comparison? I do like the Chevy front clip better though, but GMC seems to be optioned more to what I want.

Both throw decent stock halogen but think the Chevy is a tad better. Take the better optioned car and adapt to the headlights. I know I didn't like my stock headlights on the 11 Denali unless running the fog lights all the time.
