I just wanted to let everyone know to be careful when you order from gmpartsdirect.com. I ordered a piece from them on May 11th and still don''t have it. They charged me over $26 to ship and item that should cost no more than $10.

Here's where they are really screwing us, FedEx has a new shipping method that is very cheap where they don't even ship it to your home. This method has only been around about 7 months. They send it to your local post office and then the post office delievers it to you. I spoke with FedEx and they said that this way can add an additional 7-10 days to the order.

This is a joke and I will no longer order anything from GMpartsdirect!

That blows man.. FedEx is trying to save itself money while still keping prices the same and shafting us.. everything is costing more and more because of gas prices but i dont see my salary rising at the same rate as the added costs of living..

I feel for you man, i had to order a few interior trim pieces from them about 6 months ago and they took forever then also and charged an arm and a leg.. i go to LKQ junk yard and pull my own parts now.. Its alot easier..

I've ordered from GMPD before, and I think it's pretty good -- so long as you KNOW that the shipping is how the low prices are justified. If you didn't know this, then... Well, that's not good.

That being said, the prices with the shipping usually come out to be just a hair less than if you bought the parts at your local dealer's parts dept. So, it's just another option if you don't feel like dealing with the parts dept.

I was aware of their shipping because I had ordered from them before but nothing took this long. Now that they don't even ship to your home, I will no longer order from them.

Was just letting everyone know that parts from them will take an additional 5-10 days with this type of shipping.

That's actually not really the point ... they show low prices and tack on high shipping and handling charges so that their prices show as the lowest on search engine listings. Fact is when added up their prices are NEVER the lowest ... and it has also been my experience that they take an inordinate amount of time to ship. I suspect they keep limited stock and have to have everything shipped to them before they ship to the customer.

Like most of these websites that market themselves as "direct" they are but a dealership themselves ... in GMpartsdirect's case they are: http://www.flowgmautocenter.com/ therefore one's expectations of potential savings should quickly disappear.

I used them once and won't use them again.

Btw, someone in Winston-Salem should go up to their parts counter and ask for their web listed price and see what happens. :manos:

I have used them twice... Although shipping is pricey, I did not have a problem with anything else... Product was good, shipping time was not unusual... I order almost everything online (clothes, parts, some food, shoes, mattress!, furniture), so maybe I was just not paying attention to shipping times, because at any one time I could have a half dozen items on the way... anyway, I would still use them since I did not see a problem with them...

I tried ordering from them once... they tried to charge $46 shipping for a $48 part. Needless to say I cancelled the order and will not deal with them again.

Yeah, that's not good, obviously.

But I ordered my Esky side steps through them, and everything went smoothly. I don't remember waiting long for the parts (a week?), and the shipping was what I would call average for these GIGANTIC boxes. So, there are obviously some parts that are "worth" ordering through them, and others that aren't.

I used them once and never again, took almost a month to get, they got the order screwed up, quantity was wrong, I caught it when I reviewed my order online, they have no phone number, they reply to your customer service emails about 2-3 days later. Once the wrong number of items came, they offered to take them back for a 20% restocking fee. I just kept the parts and will NEVER use them again.
