i bought some monroe quick struts for the fronts and oem zw7 rear shocks and 2" drop springs from tony, so in a few weeks, i'll be installing a bunch of suspension parts.

I wouldn't buy the monroe quick struts. I bought them and installed them and it actually raised the truck to where it was level with the rear and it rode like a tank, so I ordered the factory OEM struts off amazon and switched them out a week or so later and returned the monroe quick struts.

I would recommend Bilstein. Slightly higher price but they ride like dream! They are also height adjustable so you can be at stock or higher in three increments (5100 series).

I have put Bilstein on several vehicles and never been dissappinted.

Gotcha. ....i need some that ride factor to -2 or so

The Bilsteins offer so much more control. I was surprised how bad the OEM shocks were (soft and lack of wheel control). More control equaled better ride.

Hi all. I recently bought a 2007 with a lot of miles on it. At some point in it's life, the front strut assemblies were replaced with Monroe Quick Struts. I have no idea how old they are, if they are beyond their intended life, or they just suck, but I would like to replace them with Bilsteins.

In reading to the instructions for the Bilsteins, it says I need to retain the OE spring seat. Well, I don't have the OE spring seat, and I am not sure I am finding the piece they are referring to in the OE parts lookups. Are they referring to a metal ring that appears to be removable on some struts, or are they just referring to what appears to be a plastic or rubber piece? If not, the "spring seat" does not appear to be serviced separately.



Any help you could provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Bilsteins are a very common and well-liked upgrade over OEM. I went with KYB Gas-A-Just, mainly due to prior excellent experience with them on a (big & heavy) Crown Victoria, and I love them.
