Does anyone know the actual height of a '11 Tahoe LTZ with roof rack and crossmembers that go across from side to side of the roof rack?

Does anyone know how to remove the cross members that attach?

I lift up on the handle things on the cross members, but not sure if they are lifting all the way and if they can even then be removed. I want to remove the cross members altogether for parking garage clearance.

Gotta slide the rear end caps off of the (side) rails in order to get the cross members off. I found this nearly impossible to do (there's a tab to access to get the cap off, and I lost patience trying to release it), so I unbolted the side rails, and took the whole rack off in one piece. With the rack off, it's a lot cleared how to slide the end caps off.

Not sure what the actual height it, but I'd bet you'll save 2"-3" with the whole rack off, and 1"-1.5" with the cross members off.

You have to remove the 2 T25 torx screws on the rear end caps, slide the end cap out.Pull the latches on the cross rails and slide them out. its best if you have someone to help u pull the other side if not jus go back and forth till you slide them all the way out

Yeah, but the end caps don't just "slide out." There's a tab that needs to be released on them, and it's not terribly easy to get to...

Really? i jus pulled mine right off.

Oh, well that's good. I couldn't get mine off for the life of me!

Hopefully he has the same experience you had -- just thought I'd warn him of my experience.

I removed the torx screw and the cap came right off. Then you slide the cross bars all the way rearward and off. Helps to have someone assist you in the sliding them off part.

This is the screw, you will probably need a ladder to see it unless you are 7 feet tall. Its a crappy phone pic, but you get the idea.
