Eventually, my 2002 Tahoe will have to be retired. I was looking at a 2019 for fun and realize how much I appreciate the GMT800 platform. In 2019, and I'm not sure how long GM has been doing this, raised the truck bed to accomodate folding seats. I know the 2020 managed to lower the truck bed and keep the folding seats. In spite of the advances in engine and transmission technology, I am totally uninterested. I guess I will be saving for a 2020.

The 900s had more interior volume than their predecessors and successors. It is pretty wild to see the progression in technology between the generations.

I have had a 1997, 2003, 2010, 2012 and now a 2015 Each one was better the the previous and the 2015 is WAY better in almost every way, with the exception of mechanical simplicity.
This raised bed would drive me absolutely nuts. I'm sure it was done to allow a folding 3rd row, but I'd rather just remove the 3rd row seat and have a true flat bed in the back.
I think I meant the 2021 Tahoe fixes this. I just saw a picture of a 2020 Tahoe and see the same issue.

Here's a thread on a pretty easy way you can flatten the area behind the 3rd row in the long wheel base models. Though there is still a present slope starting where the seats are folded but this does at least flatten the area behind the 3rd row which is useful.

I had 6 Chevy Suburbans, then I had 12 Escalade's from 2007 to 2013, 5 were platinums, they were all great trucks, this 2019 Callaway Tahoe is WAY BETTER than all the others, JMO
I don't doubt that the later models have things that make them way better. I sure wish I had direct injection, a 6 or 10 speed transmission, DOD (the later version), etc.
What I don't want is:
-power folding seats. We have them in my wife's Explorer and they're great for her. But for me, things will drop between the folded seats, the raised bed to accommodate the folding seats is a nuisance. I'd rather just remove the third row entirely like I do in my 2002. They're quick to remove, quick to install. Granted, if you're constantly needing the 3rd row in and out, the power folding option is really nice.
-electronics in the dash. There's too much of this junk in the dashboard now. I so much love the three simple dials for HVAC controls, plus a recirc button and an AC button.
-touch screen... Get rid of this horrible waste of space! For a backup camera system, I installed a rearview mirror that has a backup screen built into it. Now there is space for physical radio buttons so I can easily change the station, band, or whatever I want.
IF I need GPS navigation, which is only a few times a year when travelling, I'll use my Garmin RV660. Otherwise, I don't need all the extra clutter.
Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of things about the new trucks. But when will software developers, engineers, designers, manufacturers etc figure out that some of us want non-cluttered simple utilitarian vehicles. Yes, I want some of the comforts, but they don't need all the mess of buttons and screens.

just get an LT. my 2019 does have the touch screen larger screen radio, but still has buttons to touch, the seats are not power, and really not many bells and whistles that the LTZ-premium packagages have.
I drive a 2008 and the 2019 is very comparable in terms of creature comforts. The rear cargo area is about 2.5" higher but do not have issues with the bit of slope it has. i am happy with the folding third row, does not take up the space, and the cargo area is smooth, I have a husky liner in the 2019 and do not have to deal with the plastic tracks like in the 2008.
