currently wearing lt245/75r16 at 40 psi. Higher? lower? don't mind the bumpiness but do want the least amount of resistance with even tread wear.

Mine were originally at 36 but with the tires off the ground the tread center looked to be collapsed like under inflated tire with a load on it which would wear out the outer tread. Maybe I am just imagining it but it was obvious looking. Any other thoughts? I will see what my load range is when I install my new k&n cai today.

In my 285's I run 55 psi in the rear and 50 in the front. They are 8 ply (D rated) BFG All Terrains. My treadwear is as even as you can get them.

Read the fine print on the side of your tires.

No matter what size or rated tire you have, unless you have added tons of weight to the vehicle, you should always run your tires at factory rates psi.

I have 33" load range E's on mine and run them at 35. They have 20,000 + miles and have only worn down 15%.

+1

Every tire is different, it will say the max PSI on your sidewall.

As an example - if you ran 50psi cold on some LT tires, by the time they warm up you could be seriously risking a blowout...others however, love high PSI.

Actually sparg, what I was trying to get across is that while most tires have a different max psi, they all state to use the psi rated for your vehicle (the one in the door jamb). They also say in fine print to use the tire pressure located on the vehicles tire placard or owners manual.

That pressure is going to be the best for the vehicle because tire pressure is basically a measure of resistance between the road and the weight of your vehicle. You want to keep the resistance factory unless you add substantial amounts of weight.

Being as how mine did not originally have lt's I guess what I was asking is for those that did. If you have lt's listed on your placard what was its pressure stated. Figured some one here has a factory lt'ed sticker.
