Just got back about half an hour ago from getting my tune with Justin. I got the 93 octane tune, got the tow/haul switched to a performance mode, and also had my shifts firmed up. I really can't tell much of a difference just yet to be honest, except that part throttle shifts a re a little snappier and the engine will rev all the way up to 6 grand. I also had him get rid of my rear o2 sensors for future projects, and eliminate the speed governor.

I pretty much have only done highway driving back from the tune spot, and haven't had much time yet to tool around, maybe I'll get some gas in a minute and go for a little ride down back roads, take it for a wash, whatever. I'm hoping I come to a sudden realization that the tune really woke this thing up, because I'm not feeling much of a performance difference from factory settings just yet.

Like ******* clockwork.

I just rode to the gas station, brought him to the booth for a nice bath and wax, threw in 22 gallons of 93 octane, pulled out of the gas station, drove down the main road, then turned down a quiet backroad to really lay into it

Holy shit did I get a wake up call. I romped on the pedal and with no lag at all it kicked down to first gear at 5 grand. It downshifted into 5 grand... just to get me up to 6 grand and second gear clicked in at like 3500. The 5600 lbs. truck screws now like no tomorrow. I also do notice a little bit of stall with the tow/haul button engaged, so that helps with the take off too.

Seriously, like 4 or 5 times I brought it up to like 60 miles per hour then eased off and slowed down to about 25 just to slam on it again and put a smile on my face. The truck just has so much bigger balls now it feels like. I can definitely feel the torque pulling this truck now. I was kind of speed bursting just for fun. Hammering the pedal, letting it downshift and tack up then letting it off, and I could hear the tires squeal and everything, then when I let off the pedal I could really tell the truck was pulling its weight because I would lurch forward just from letting go of the throttle.

So pumped, I'm totally sold now. Next I just need new intake and exhaust and I will so be ready for race season. Thanks Justin!

Like others have said, it takes a bit for the computer to learn all the new values, so the tune will get better over time. However, you should have felt a pretty significant difference in shifts etc. What year is your truck, and have you done all the proper maintenance? (MAF clean, throttle body clean, fuel filter/pump, Seafoam)

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like you figured it out for yourself! Enjoy!

I haven't done any of that particular kind of maintenance. I have just been keeping up with engine oil and filter every 5k currently. I'm really close to 100k so I was planning on waiting till then and really go all through changing all the fluids (both differentials, tranny, engine, and radiator.. maybe even brake fluid too), relubing all the moving components, cleaning out the throttle body, freshening up the ignition, changing fuel filter, etc etc. While I'm doing all that I plan on installing a vette servo too as I have been told by many that it makes a serious difference.

EDIT: and it's a 2003. I bought it at 70k just under a year ago and now it has 93k (I drive a lot), and thanks!

Since it is so easy, I would recommend cleaning the MAF and throttle body. Might even want to run Seafoam through it. These things can pile up crap in these systems pretty quick if they aren't taken care of.

Spirited driving will help with any carbon buildup though, that is for sure!

Yeah, I will definitely seafoam it a week or two before I do my full maintenance. I just haven't bothered yet because the engine was still relatively young and all when I bought it, and runs like a top.

I'm thinking down the line I will throw a GM hotcam and some corvette valve springs in this engine. I hear that is a quick and easy way to get a boatload more power out of the heads on this 6.0l. It's also a helluva lot cheaper than throwing down like $3k+ for a supercharger kit. I think I can get that came and a set of 16 springs for under $400 maybe

If you go with a cam, I would recommend LTs as well, definitely wakes these engines up. The LS6 springs aren't bad. I have the 918s.
