Has anyone on here wired 194 switchbacks or colormatched a set of Denali tails?

Hello to all and Happy New Year. Just picked up a Yukon a couple weeks ago and have already started tearing into it. First night I debadged and demoulded it and I color matched the grille.

Anyway, my first question> I am getting ready to start my next project and am wondering if anyone on here has done it before. I will be pulling apart the headlights to retrofit and colormatch them white. While I am in there I am going to add some switchbacks. I have found several threads on F150s and TBSS forums where people have wired in a switch and some diodes to make the 194 side marker bulb a switchback also, but I have not scene any on a Yukon. If you have do you have a wiring diagram? If not I will make one.

Second question> I hate the stock tails on my SLT and am thinking about cutting open a stock set of Denali tails to colormatch the painted black portion white. Just trying to see a finished project if its been done before. Sorry for the long post, but hopefully it warrants creating a thread.

Thanks in advance! :party52:

Hey Mike, welcome from Katy! Cant comment on the headlights, but for the tails, I have opened a set of Tahoe tails to do some work, and just FYI, they are extremely hard to pull the lens off, and when you do, its hard to make them look good when reassembling because the bond line between the housing and lens is visible from the lens - where it meets the quarter panel. Its do-able if you bake the shit out of them for 15-20 minutes @ 300 degrees, and manhandle and use some pic tools to chisel the adhesive. It would look killer if you could do it clean enough though. If you need a good painter, let me know - I can get it done for you.

Thanks for the reply and heads up on the tails. "It would look killer if you could do it clean enough though" The second opinion makes it worth attempting, I just wasn't sure if it would be too ricey. I may hit you up for a painter reference here shortly since I just moved here last year and want to clearance the front and rear fenders on my other truck. Oh and your avitar looks sick, I haven't scene to many nice ones down my way.

You can get a 3157 switchback that will work fine. It will hyper flash but with a resistor wired in will work perfect. I have had them for years. If you want to color match your headlights buy a aftermarket set. Either tyc or eagle eye. They will come apart way easier than stock and allow you to paint. Prep is very important when painting plastic. Use a plastic adhesion promoter like Bull dog. And a engine enamel or a good automotive 2k paint. If you want to color match many Napa stores can put a quality 2k paint in a spray can that will be an exact match.
