Having a strange sound that hard to pinpoint

I have a 98 tahoe with a 5.7 and a 4l60e. Im having a howling/whining noise that gets louder with acceleration. But it doesnt make the noise in P or N. Im pretty sure it is the torque converter. And have had a few mechanics agree thats what is. It doesnt slip or stutter like other bads ones i have seen in the past, its just loud as hell and annoying.

Anybody have this happen to thier trucks, or have any tips or write up for the install

A howling torque converter? have not heard that one before. If it howling that could be a fan clutch stuck in constant grip mode. Maybe even leaky air intake.
