I scored an HD grill from an 02 Silverado at the yards yesterday. Tried installing it but it was too tall. Did a little searching on here , only useful info I found said to trim an inch off the bottom of the grill, which I thought was a lot .Anyone have any suggestions for iinstallation ? I started trimming 1/2 inch off but stopped .I didn't want to mess it up beyond repair .IMAG0249.jpg

My original grill ? I didn't. But I did put the HD grill on and it was a little too tall, nothing matched up, so I measured 1/2 from the bottom edge of the grill and started to trim it but I wanted to ask advice from any forum members so I wouldn't mess it up .

3 different options

1. Trim a inch off the bottom of the grille
2. Cut a slot in the top bumper cap for the grille to sit in
3. Do the had bumper conversion which requires a new top bumper cap and cutting a re-welding the bumper brackets 1.5" lower

Me and my buddy when we had our old Tahoes. We chose option 1

Guess I'll be trimming the bottom of the grill. Inch seems like a lot tho .Didn't seem like it was that much off.

I added pics to my original post. Seems like a lot but it's not bad. Make sure you sand you cut nice and smooth so it doesn't scratch up your bumper cap
