Hi Everyone. Hoping ya'll can shed some light on my current predicament. I ordered a 2013 Factory Nav Unit off Ebay and had it installed in my 2011 Tahoe with Bose. I had to purchase a 2012-2013 GM HDD Navigation Upgrade wiring harness (P/N GMFAKBFP ). I had everything installed with the addition of a Rydeen backup camera and DVD bypass. I went to River Oaks Audio here and Houston and they did the whole install without telling me I was going to have to have the unit re-prgrammed by the dealer. They initially said they could do it.
The problem lies in page 6 of the link at the bottom where you find the Programming Note: " IF RADIO IS NOT PRE-PROGRAMMED BY UNITED RADIO, RADIO MAY REQUIRE PROGRAMMING. VEHICLES WITH Y91/Y92 WILL REQUIRE PROGRAMMING FOR AUDIO TO WORK. IF RADIO REQUIRES PROGRAMMING IN VEHICLE WITH MODEL YEAR PRIOR TO 2012, YOU WILL NEED TO USE A 2012 VIN WHEN PROGRAMMING. YOU MAY ALSO NEED TO MAUALLY ENTER THE RPO CODES CORRESPONDING TO THE VEHICLE."
Anyways long story short, my Tahoe is a 2011 and the dealerships don't feel comfortable using a VIN when re-programming that isn't mine. It's very irritating because the wiring harness is a GM part and the random 2012 VIN will not be used in the actual re-learn. Has anyone modded their radio like this before? Will I just need to return my pre-owned unit for a pre-programmed unit? Anything will help at this point. I've been driving around for over a month with a dud of a radio showing "Locked."
