It seems as if the lighting on my old yukon has become too outdated compared to modern day traffic.
As in when I pass some oncoming vehicles, their dim lights overpower mine and I can't see the road.

What I have now is oem replacement bulbs with clear housing.

When I search for products I find HID kits, projector housings, blue lamps green lamps, etc etc.

I don't know one from the other really.

What I want is some good high power, clear (white I guess), street legal headlamps.
Also my headlight housings leak, I have holes drilled in them to let water out.

So what would be some good quality parts to use?

I read through this forum but all the posts seem to be questions from guys who already know what kind of lighting they want.

I went to CarId (they are a vender here), bought some clear housings and sylvania's brightest "white" light replacement bulbs, spent about 200.00 In all. Couldnt be happier!

Get some HIDs 9006 35 watt in a 4500 to 6000k temp.

They technically aren't street legal, but neither are your clear headlight housings...

I live in a rather small town and HIDs are a no go.
Roscoe will ticket the crap out of anybody with blue lights.

I could probably go with HID on my brights though, the low beam HIDs in town are what the city cops don't like.
I've read that they have a warm up time.
How long would it take for them to switch on?

I saw mentions of LED bulbs with cooling fans in another thread, anybody have some insight on those?

35 watt hids about 1-2 seconds
55 watt is like 5-10 seconds

If you get 5000k hids they will be white. 6000k+is blue.

OK thanks for the help, I was unaware that HIDs were available in white.

The lighting kit I bought was from ebay.
I paid about 130 for the four lights but the quality of the kit I purchased is terrible.

I wouldn't mind paying more.

do you remember which seller you bought from?

i honestly have no idea who the seller was. i allways buy from power sellers with good scores though. the only problem i had was the pass side headlight didnt seem to have enough adjustment in it. i took t back off and kinda tweeked the adjustment screw put it back in and G2G. i just run the brightest plan bulbs i could find. light output is good on low beams but the highs deff need the the 4-high mod. that is a GM problem and was needed with the stock lights aswell
