I'm looking to buy some brighter
Light bulbs for my high beams, living in the country I use them every night, and want something brighter. If anybody experimented, any suggestions, thanks. Hunting season is on full blast, don't want to blast any deer with my tahoe.

zXe if not a retrofit.

Had them for a year now

And?? Do you like them?

Just asking because I want something a bit better than OEM and don't have enough play cash to do a retrofit with all of the other crap that eats up $$$$$$ (kids, racing...ect).

Sorry........

Yes I do. Very much so.

They are said to not last long at all. I have had them for a year and been happy. I have my receipt to claim warranty if they do go out.

They light is DEFINITELY whiter and brighter. Although it may have less actual lumens. Also note that whiter light seems to disperse more and look thinner.

I have a retro in the works so I may not have them much longer though.

If you can find them, the original Toshiba HIR1 9011 bulbs (with a little notching of the base), but I haven't seen a real set in years and if they come up they are stupid expensive. Otherwise the best halogen bulbs you can now get for your high beams are the Philips HIR1 9011 bulbs: http://store.candlepower.com/hirlighting.html

Get a true led kit. They come with a balast and are brighter than stock and less draw.

First of all as HID kits have proven over and over again as they spread light everywhere but where it is needed, just because something produces more light it doesn't mean it illuminates the road more effectively. Brightness in terms of lumens is only measured at the source and is but one factor in how light is dispersed.

Let's take a look at how that works:

Keeping all this in mind, could you please link us to this high beam 'led kit' that you think is a better alternative in halogen reflectors than halogen bulbs?

Low beam bulb choice for NNBS Tahoes is more boring because there are no 'exotic' H11 halogen options like HIR.

It really depends what a person really wants. Any of the OEM bulbs by Philips, Sylvania, etc will give you pretty much the best output you're going to get give or take a lumen. If you want a whiter light the only way to achieve that is with a blue coating on the bulb ... the darker the coating the more lumens it will rob you of but the whiter the light it will give you, that's always going to be the tradeoff.
