Headliner work

I started pulling my headliner a few weeks ago so I can get new fabric put on and finished getting it out yesterday. Now I'm just getting it cleaned up so I can have someone put new fabric on.

When I was moving it around to get it cleaned and I ended up breaking the foam core around the area for the fan control console. Is this something I should leave to the guy putting the fabric on or is this something I can fix?

I'd leave it. Probably need to patch that on both sides for strength and not have a line at the point.
