Well, with the cold spell going around...it's the first time we have had to use the heat in the Tahoe (just got in JUL).

For some reason, the heat doesn't come out of the front vents...only out of the defrost vent by the windshield and maybe the floor. Is this normal...to not have the heat come out of the front vents? I almost always use the Auto climate control function. Does this have something to do with it?

My wife was complaining about it yesterday when she was driving, saying that took a while to get warm (hands, steering wheel) since not really blowing direct out of the front vents.

Just trying to see if this is normal (can't imagine so), if there is a setting I am missing, or if there is simply an issue with the unit.

Thanks,

Rob

no, assuming that you have control set to come out on top then you should expect the fan to shoot the out through the top vents. It sounds like the door that directs the air is stuck in the position to come out on the floor and defrost slots. The best way to fix this I'm not sure cuz I've never had the issue. What year is your rig? Maybe someone else has fixed and can give you an easy solution to it :D

I have a 2010 Tahoe

---------- Post added at 09:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:39 AM ----------

Forgot to mention, when the A/C "cold" air/temp is on...the air DOES come thru the front vents. Almost like it is setup so that the warm/heat doesnt blow directly on the front seat occupants.

 interesting. I know that in my 07 Burb as long as I have it set to hit the top it'll come out of the top vents no matter if it's warm or cold air. Obviously, it's always possible that they made changes between '07 and '10. I'll be interested to hear of others have this same experience.

Auto

is it on auto?

if it is, heat will come out at your feet, and cold air will come out up top.

You can however override this w/the buttons on the HVAC.

this is normal.

Good point. I've never use my "Auto". I guess I like to have control over such things :D

We normally use Auto, so I guess that's the issue here. Strange to have it work that way. Will try turning Auto off to see if that works.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. This does not sound normal and I would suggest getting it looked at. I am not sure what year your vehicle is, but from your other posts, I am assuming this is a 2010 and should be under warranty. Please let me know if I can assist you in setting up an appointment or if there is anything else I can assist with.
