I wish people would stop calling them quick disconnects.

I've been fighting with one for an hour now. FSM says to squeeze clips, then pull hose off. GM engineers must be laughing at the gullible me.

I tried a disconnect tool. I actually got it to fit in and seated fully. The ^$!@@$# hose still won't come off. I can rotate the hose on the fitting.

Am I left with having to cut the hose and cut the old fitting off? Youtube videos show people using these tools and the hose just pops off. I saw maybe one video where the fitting had to be cut off.

Any other ideas before I start cutting?

If they're old and you're changing them, just crush it with with channel locks.

Ok, I'm getting the message. I think I'll wait until I get the 3-way connector as well and do the whole works. Those things are ticking time bombs.

Sometimes I wonder, why didn't they just used hose clamps with just the rubber hose? It might not be as pretty but it wouldn't leave you stranded. I fought with mine for a few hours, i forgot what kind of contraption I made to get them off. One of them snapped the second i grabbed it with a little force.

It makes assembly much quicker. Click, click, click, click, click, click, and all the heater hoses are installed in about 10 seconds or less on the assembly line. The equivalent "T" made of aluminum would have cost more than the quick connects, and probably taken a good minute or more to install. We can't blame GM specifically either. Ford and many other manufactures are doing this too.

IIRC there's a group buy for a metal replacement for about $100.
