Spent most of my life working on and modifying my vehicles from my first car a 71 DJ-5 that cost me a trade of a weekend worth of work to get and only had a drivers seat when I got to a 67 Pontiac Firebird with a 400 and TH400 to a 71 Honda civic to various other used vehicles I would purchase fix up use for a couple of years and then sell to buy another project. This all stopped when I got married as wifey insisted I drive something new and reliable. Now 12 years later I talk her into letting my buy a project as our third vehicle and I figured what better than a full-sized truck.
After months of searching a friend of the family decided he wanted to get rid of a 99 Tahoe 4wd 4Dr LT that he had originally fixed up (exterior wise) for his daughter. It ran and all it needed was some maintenance and TLC so for $2500 I took it off his hands about 2 months ago and have been happily fixing and modifying it since trying to get as much done before the winter as possible.
Seeing as my father was a mechanic since he was 16 and spent most of his adult life working in various GM and Chevy dealerships I have been lucky to have him for most of my reference and questions. Whenever I come across something that he was unsure of I have been coming here for help and have always been able to find what I am looking for.
I have a funny feeling this won't be my first because as I do more and more to the truck the wife likes driving it more and more and I have had to start hiding the keys from her so she doesn't take it when I am not looking.
