hey guys- I've spent the last day looking online and thru posts and it seems most are not happy with the quality of what they have?

I have a 2011 Black Yukon Denali- already had the BB tune, Airraid & K&N cold air setup, upgraded audio system with JL sub, kicker ix 1000.5 amp, audio control LOC, Hertz and fosgate components so now time to make her look good on the outside.

I'm wanting to swap out the headlights for a blacked out pair With good quality led or Esky quality lighting?

I'm not mechanically inclined to take anything apart or bake- looking for a drop in ready set that has great projectors in them. I almost pulled the trigger on a pair of Anzo's but after reading thru online- they seem to be crap too?

Can anyone please give me direction on swapping out for equal to or better than oem quality blacked out headlights and housing please? Below is a pic of the style I'm looking for

Thanks in advance for the help!

That's not gonna happen unless you go with a quality retrofit. Something made yourself or a company like blackflamecustoms

Those are junk. There are people on this forum that have literally thrown these in the trash after a week of having them...

More headlight info here... http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/tahoe-yukon-headlight-information-thread.45797/

I know this is getting absolutely crazy. Some say great others say it's a turd. :emotions122:

There has to be a good quality option for around 300-400 right? I mean damn these are just lights, I'm wanting a cosmetic change for appearances that won't sacrifice lowering the quality of headlights currently in.

I certainly would rather put the money towards cam, supercharger or go fast bolt on items before I'd drop a grand for some blacked out housing and lights!

You can MAKE them yourself or buy pre-owned for $400-$500. You won't find depo lights (like your picture) that are good. There are other companies that have them for $500-$600. Just the parts will start around $400 for a retrofit, and then you're paying someone labor to do them...

I understand the money part, but you will sacrifice light output. You can search "retrofit" and find the threads on this.

here's a couple

Thanks for the detailed replies. So if I'm wanting to buy a new pair with the black housing- where would you recommend please? Wanting PnP I can drop in.

I'll just bite the bullet and get it done!

Do a true retro fit like I did on mine but you can get generic brand black oem style ones from eBay.

Go with what Nathan and Wade are suggesting. I have had PnP drop in HID's in my factory housings and they are horrible. I have finally "bit the bullet" and ordered new housings, projectors, and full supplies to have a quality retrofit done. Yes, I will be $950 all in, but am having a reputable company near me build the lights and have them installed in person to allow for proper alignment and tunning of the housings to make sure it is done right. It isn't for the faint of heart, but you get what you pay for in most cases and you don't want to make things dangerous to you, or others with poor headlights. Nathan suggested Blackk Flame Customs, and they do have a black housing with projector that you can order with a retrofit kit. Check them out or check out High Cascade Lighting, as they are the company that I am using. Black Flame is east coast, High Cascade is Portland, Oregon area.

I hope that helps. Best of luck.

Thanks- I guess I'm getting a reality check on pricing. I have no problem dropping coin on my ride- hell it was around 60k when I bought it new.

I decided to keep my truck vs getting a 2016 one and start upgrading it. My list includes but not limited to-

TVS1900 supercharger
Custom grind cam/stall converter
Selling the factory 20" Denali rims/tires and putting 22 or 24" black rims

If I'm going to drop a grand- I know me and I'll want it to be towards go fast items. Comes down to, 20% of a supercharger paid for, nice cam or headlights..

Headlights lose in that argument currently(going back and forth)- at least for a 1000.00.

and there's no way in hell in putting some cheap ass Walmart special lights on my Denali that suck balls! May as well add crome lip fenders and fake cell antenna at that route :doublepuke:

Thanks for the info and follow ups. I'm getting the info I need. Just flip flopping on what to knock out first.

Chris, I know the feeling well... I really want to add a supercharger to my 6.2 down the road with a custom cam as well, but I wanted the better lighting as it is a safety factor for me... I have never liked the light output of these vehicles, especially for the price we pay for them. I also want to add CK375's (24's) and a nice 3/5 drop and Wilwood brakes down the road as well... Just takes time, and for me the safety aspect put it at the top of my list of to do's... I guess my priorities changed since I now have a 4mo old at home... :)

I'm glad that some of the info was of help. If you would like my friend's name from where I'm having my retrofit's built, let me know, he could work with you on parts and cost. Mine are a whole lot more due to using OEM equipment, as I wanted reliability and the factory appearance.

Take care, and happy modding!

Joe
