Hey yall,

I have a 97 yukon 4wd with 185k on it. When I start my truck up and shift into either drive or reverse and strat to move, the rear axle seems to shake and hardly has any power to go - then in about 3 to 5 seconds it stops and everything seems fine. Any ideas?

Thanks and War Eagle!

Sounds like a trans related issue. Start by checking your ATF. To me, it sounds like it's a little low.

You know what i will do if i have your problem..

Remove the Place on your Axles and Clean the hell out of it..

After you have clean it all up.. add some additive and put proper lubrication for it..

iam about todo soon on my Yukon Denali. while i change my tranny fluid

unknown at this time.
If you have proper filuid types and levels, it is possible you are experiencing a problem with one of the clutches in your transmision like delayed/partial engagment, it does not sound like a hard part has failed but one of it mounts could also be loose. You could also have a broken tooth in the rear end but you would think it happens at all speeds. A reputable tranny shop shoud be able to diagnose right away if it happens everytime.

See I was thinking my fluids were low as well so I checked them and they were a little bit but not too bad - and my trans was fully rebuilt no more than 3 months ago. So maybe my next step should be to crack the diff open and check it out...
