Help removing the driver's seat w/ airbag? 2004

Do I need to disable all the components the GM manual says? zone 7 & zone 9 or just remove the SIR fuse and unhook the driver’s seat airbag. GM wants the steering wheel, and passengers side I/P module and the side impact module disconnected. The steering wheel connector isn't to bad but the pass I/P module connector is a pain to get to. These GM manuals tend to be overkill and repeat unnecessary steps.

When I removed the seats in my burb I just un hooked the battery and unplugged the seats didn't have any problems. If I had to guess the battery was unhooked for 15-30 min before I got to the steps of disconnecting the seats for removal.
