Hey guys! I have a 2003 Yukon SLT XL. Last night someone broke into it and stole the stereo that I purchased the car with. I'm looking at replacing the stereo with a stock oem one or another cheap alternative.

1. When I plug a stock radio in from another vehicle will it be "locked" I read somewhere about a theft lock system that will be a problem can anyone explain this? Will it be an issue?

2. What other years, makes, models would work with my truck?

Thanks!

You'll have to get the dealer to unlock it. Some dealers will simply unlock it, while others will require proof that you purchased it and it's not stolen

03-06

But it's not all that simple. There are 2 kinds of systems in the 03-06 vehicles. LUX and NON-LUX

If you have a LUX you need a LUX radio (or NON-LUX to NON-LUX). You can get around it be recoding the radio or doing some rewiring, but honestly you can get a better aftermarket radio for around the same price as a factory used unit.

Yea, if you aren't set on keeping it stock, aftermarket is so much better and simple to install.
