Ooookay, so I've searched for about 30min hoping I wouldn't have to post this at the risk of looking like an idiot....BUT

I recently replaced my cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Unfortunately I was naive enough to buy the cheapest plug wires I could find and now I'm doing it again because one of the plug wires was a dud.

Here's where the fun starts, I had to take all of the plug wires off to return the set for better (hopefully functional) wires and now I don't have the old wires to use as a reference for the lengths. :emotions122:

So I'm hoping that one of you wonderful people out there can help me figure out which wire to plug in where so I can get the lengths right. I have the firing order already, just need to figure out the lengths. ANY help will be much appreciated...

What year truck we talking here?? I've run into this before on my Camaro and I've basically just laid them all out, longest goto the front 2, next 2 to the next 2, and on like that. That should get you in the ballpark ...

Thanks retorq, it's a '97. I'll try that tomorrow.

Thanks, that worked, got the lengths right.
Still have a misfire though, guess I gotta take it back to the parts store to read the codes and figure out if it's still in the 6th cylinder or somewhere else:laughing1:

I returned the cheap plug wires and got some Bosch wires for about $60, put them back on (with the help of this forum) and it still ran terrible. I also replaced the spark plug at cylinder 6 where I was getting a bad code.
So I pulled the rest of the spark plugs out and they were ALL fouled:uhoh2:
I did find and repair a couple of vacuum leaks while replacing the plug wires. Anyone have any ideas as to what would cause all the plugs to foul? :help:

Too rich ... wrong plug heat range ... wrong plug gap ...
I have an after marked cold air intake and a power programmer installed. Not sure if that affects anything. Pretty sure it has something to do with the plugs, wires, cap or rotor because that's what has changed since I started having the problem.
Also, I've read on another forum that GM changed the gap from .06 to .04 because of misfire and pinging. Some say it's only on the iridium plugs, others say all of them. Wonder what the old plugs were set at? What do you guys think?
