Hello everyone! I own a 2001 Tahoe LT with the 2nd row 60/40 seat. My seat bottom latches in place like usual, but the actual seat back when I put it in the up-right position doesn't lock in place (it goes back and forth if you pull on it). I wanted to see why it is doing this and how to fix it if possible. I don't know if this matters, but I have an amp underneath the seat and I can't fold the seat back down all the way, maybe it has to fold all the way down before it locks back in place in the up right position? I would rather not try and move the amp if I can fix it without doing that. Thank you for your help

LOL I might know the issue??? When we got ours I spent about a half an hor figuring this out??? On the driver side rear the back folded up and locked without issue. When I went to the passenger side rear it did not lock??

I saw a cable and wires running back there?? I stepped back and looked and I saw that the drive rear was folded straight up but the side that would not lock ... was at a slight angle??

Then I noticed ... the driver side front ... since I tend to sit close to the steering wheel, was more forward than the passenger side ... interesting??? So I moved the passenger side forward a bit and "BINGO!!" The passenger Side "Locked" in the forward postion!

Long story short ... move the front seat (s) forward a bit and I think your problem will be solved. :)

Thanks for your advice! It didn't work, but I did solve the issue. The little latch that should be pulled with the cable wasn't locking, so I just had to push the latch manually and now the seat back is locked in place. :)

Yeah the Lubra Plate ... doesn't melt ... I bought a small can of the stuff about 15 years ago for my "Caliper Bolts on" my Mini Truck. I freaking paid for a brake job and it grabbed hard when I applied the brakes???

I found the issue used that stuff and never had the problem again. :)

Can you please take a picture of the latch that you had to manually push into place? I've been trying to figure out the same issue to no avail. I looked at the other seats to see if i could find the moving parts that obviously aren't working on the seat that won't lock in and couldn't find anything. Thanks so much!
