I recently took my moldings/badges off and i scratched the paint up. A few moderate scratches and alot of small scratches. Im using Turtle wax scratch and swirl remover, Turtle Wax color magic polish for black cars, meguiars NXT car wax, and an electric buffer. Ive put more than 20 coats of each and Im still seeing the moderate scratches and half of the smaller scratches. I know most people on here take good care of their hoe so I was hoping I could get some better results than I got. Thanks in advance.

Can you post pics?
Do the scratches go through the black paint and show primer?
Are the scratches deep enough to catch your fingernail?
What kind of buffer are you using?

For anything other than very faint scratches in the clearcoat, you are going to need to use varing strengths of polishing compound (not swirl remover) to correct the finish. Starting with more aggressive polish and working your way up to a fine polish...much like sanding wood with coarser grit sandpapers, then medium grit, then fine grit. If the scratches are deep in the paint (below clearcoat) and/or through the paint, you can make them less noticeable but you won't be able to remove them without a repaint. If you are not experienced with a direct drive polisher, you can easily ruin your paint. Your best bet for DIY correction is with a random orbital polishing machine, such as the Porter Cable 7424, Griots, or similar...and a lot of patience.

Go to YouTube and search for Junkman paint correction videos or visit Adam's Polishes website for how to videos http://www.adamspolishes.com/t-videos.aspx

Do it by hand. Use Meguires #3 cleaner, then polish it back out with a #9 polish, and follow with a yellow wax like #28. Dont put too much elbow grease into the #3 cleaner or you will make the scratches worse. If you dont know what you are doing - seek a professional.
