HID headlight housings

I purchased HID kits for my high beams and low beams before I really researched them, and the light I'm getting out of them is HORRIBLE. I'm wondering if this is because of the housings (crappy housings or designed for halogen).

I've got a 99 tahoe with 9006/9005 light bulbs. My current headlight housings are pretty crappy- yellowish etc. I've got HID's installed in the high and low beams and they look much brighter than my stockers. The one problem is that there seems to be no beam to focus or point. Is the diffusion/no beam a result of the crappy surface or the design?

I'll work on cleaning up the surface, but it looks like I'll have to buy new housings. Are there any housings that work well with HID's?

don't bother with either you lighting will suck. Try replacement lenses from tyc or anzo. standard or crystal clear but no projectors unless hids are designed for it.

Thank you, I'm 99.99999% sure I'm going to do a retro with an actual HID projector now. I'll look for something with a clear glass to put the projector behind.

Do a retro. I just ordered my stuff. Total cost is at just under 300.00 that includes new replacement housings, Mini H1 Bi Xenon set up, Ballasts wiring and conversion relay as well as bulbs.

I have gotten a bunch of infro from TRS that sold me the H1 kit. They have sold kits for them.

If you do a retrofit you do not have to do a Bi-Xenon set up but I think it is a better idea. It was just a few bucks more and i intend to use my high beam spot to maybe keep a fog light set up.

the Morimoto Mini H1 BiXenon kit is what I got. You even get adapter plates for the 9006 set up.
