So i am in need of opinions on high flow cats. I had long tubes installed last year and left the cats off. Obviously per my state regulations, after 5k miles, im not legal. So in order to keep it legal, i need cats. I have doug thorley long tubes with a tri-y pipe and a borla cat-back exhaust welded on to that. The borla pipes are 2.75 diameter.

Question 1: do i need to get cats with sensor holes? I dont have mine in now and i am not throwing any codes.

Question 2: what brand do you all suggest?

Im not in a big hurry as i have until next january, but i have the money now and would like to take care of it. I have seen a few universal high flow cats, but not sure as to exactly what to get. Should i just take it to a exhaust shop and see what they recommend?

Does your state do a visual cat inspection or a actual sniffer test? If its just a visual then no you dont need the o2 sensor bung. If they do a sniffer test you might need the sensor in place. Just go to www.summitracing.com go to brands select magnaflow go to the catalytic converter section and take your pick of designs. They have many different types and you can even select engine size to choose a cat suited to your engine displacement.

I am not sure. My mechanic has left the industry, so i am stuck finding a new shop. Not sure what they do here if its visual or not.

I'll check out summit and see what i can find. Thanks for the help!

Well regardless im sure they will have what your after. They do have universal California legal cats. Would still probably need to have the papers with you stating its legal in cali if you happened to live there.

I have doug thorleys, the same ones blackbear sells for ours. I love them. Noticed a difference in mid range acceleration. Not so much in take off. I would recommend getting coated tubes. These are pretty heavy. If you have the money to spend you could go stainless works, but thats up to you. Depends on what you are trying to achieve
