I sent my driver to the dealer to pick up a wiper so I asked him to quote a few items:

6 quarts diff fluid 35.00 each
6 quarts trans fluid 8.63 each
Rear gasket 10.23
trans filter 59.99
2- transfer case fluid 8.95

Total 381.47 w/ tax. know I usually get 15% and save tax but thats still much more then I thought.

I just checked GM Parts Direct which is a fraction of the price. Diff fluid 20 each but need to buy case & trans fluid 4.92 but by case as well, filter is less then 28 bucks! Less the half of what the dealer charges.

Is there anyone willing to split a case of each that resides in the NY area? Or know where else its available at a good price? I hate to sound cheap but I was really taken back when he handed me this quote....

Also I assume there is a drain plug in front diff? Or did the parts guy miss selling me the gasket. How about transfer case, drain plug?

Hmm, I thought there was no gasket either.

And, you are not cheap, it is not called the stealership for no reason.

Combination of circumstances...my usual independent shop told me he couldn't get the diff oil, live in a rural area where there aren't a lot of choices, too much going on right now to do it myself...so I paid the price and learned a good lesson.

East Hills Chevrolet wants 499 for front/rear diffs and transfer case, 249.99 for tranny, 149.99 for coolant flush! I almost died laughing when he told me this BS
