Homemade Rock Sliders

I've been wanting to build some rock sliders / rocker guards for my Tahoe for a while. I've already put one dent in the passenger rocker panel from smacking a rock.

I already had this pile of rusty 2" x 4" tubing laying around, so I thought I would see what I could make out of it:

I started cutting and welding today:

I've almost finished the first one. Need to make some end caps for the tubes, and build some gussets to where they'll attach to the frame. Then I need to finish stripping them of rust so I can paint, and then weld them on!

I just realized I didn't get the title finished! This thread was supposed to say Homemade Rock Sliders.... I can't figure out how to edit the title...

Edit: nevermind, I figured it out.

Edit again: well, I changed the title, but it didn't stick to the forum. Oh well.

Arveetek, you are becoming to distant from the site. Don't hardly see you here at all.

Sorry! I've got multiple forums to keep up with, two of which are local 4x4 club forums, and then there's a diesel forum, and Expedition Portal....

Not enough hours in a day to keep up with everyone!! :D

Getting closer!

Sliders%207.jpg

Almost ready to mount. I was able to dig up some 1.75" HREW tubing to add a couple of more support legs.
