I have been thinking about building my own front bumper, and possibly a rear. Anyone done this before and if so what does it look like and what did you use?

I like the look of the winch bumpers...but they are way to $pendy for me, plus i don't really need a winch... i was just thinking of building a big beefy bumper more for looks than anything else...but i also wanted to add some lights on it(fogs and maybe driving lights)..and be able to take a good hit w/o it bending like the stock ones. ( i have seen what kwik trip poles and deer do to the stock bumper and it's not pretty...they seem to bend like a pop can)

Anyone w/ ideas/pictures throw em out there. thanks

Just want to say good luck if you do end up doing it! A lot of the off road magazines show rides with custom bumpers and stuff. Might be worth a look at the walmart magazine section to give you a start. Dont know who on here has one, sure someone does though!

I have been scoping the off road mags... not sure anyone here in MN has one..at least not on a tahoe... even the winch bumpers that one can buy are not seen around here very much..i think i have seen 1 or 2 on pickups... definetly no suv's.

anyone know if a heavy front bumper would affect the air bags in a crash?? not sure what kind of sensors we have on the tahoes.
