hood paint cost

So i put on my HD hood about a month ago, and now its getting time to paint.
I stopped at a body shop where i have had work in the past. I gave him my paint code and just said i would come in next time they were painting a whole car. He said 500 for the hood and another 350 for the front bumper.

Am i wrong, or does this seem pretty steep?

Yeah, I think there was a thread about this same thing a while ago.

IF the hood is in good shape and JUST needs paint, probably $200-$250. If it needs any type of block work, has dings or whatever, looking more towards $400. For both, I would guess $500-$600 would be a good deal, and $600-$700 would be average... assuming little to no actual body work needs done.

thanks. I have one hail dent that i would have taken care of first. And i would handle any prep myself before hand. I think im going to see if i can find a hobbiest. Ive done some paint work years ago, just never metallic.

Everyone is trying to get paid...paint work is never cheap. Those prices are probably on the upper end though.

Try a local Community College with a Body Shop class, most times you just pay for the materials. Paint , reducer and clearcoat and hardener, also primer should be around 150.00 or so. Just my 2cents
