Your PCM is located just beneath and to the inside of the battery and has a plastic enclosure surrounding it. Before starting, be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable.

There are two tabs holding the cover in place. One is at the top, pointing towards the engine, the other tab is on the front, behind the headlight. Once you pull the cover off, there will be a metal clip holding the PCM in place. It’s easiest to remove this by gripping it with a pair of pliers. Now the PCM should be movable. Turn it so that the two wiring harnesses are facing up and you can see the 7mm bolts on top. A 7mm or 9/32” socket will be needed to remove the bolts. They will not come out of the harness, so just loosen them to the point that the harness can be pulled free of the PCM.
To install the new PCM, simply reverse the removal instructions.

What questions did you have?

Sent from an ice cream sammich.

Well, I'm looking for a little more vehicle specific info... I am interested in the tune and havent decided wich to go with cable or general. Again this will be on an 03 tahoe Z71 w/ flexfuel (5.3) 3.73 and a K&N cold air intake. I would like to get some more MPG's but plan on buying a boat in the next year so I dont want to sacrifice and towing or passing power either. Also I read about TQ management and would like to get rid of some of it but I was curious if you or anyone else has heard feed back from people with trans problems after removing this say around a 25% TQ reduction. Also if I understand this correctly I will get btwn 1-2 mpg increase and what would you estimate on the power side.

-Can the program be set up for a future E-fan instal now or do i need a retune?
-Do I loose Flexfuel capability?
-Is there a warranty with the computer that you send if I decided to go that route over the cable program
-W/ the crank re-learn can I install this at my house then drive to the dealership or should I do it in the parking lot?
-If I do the cable prog. do I still need to do the crank re-learn or is it programed in?
-LEO/First responder discount?

Thanks for your info!

Nick

If no TM request is submitted, we typically only remove 75%. Depending on driver, engine, mods and gas (octane and quality), we typically see 1-2 MPGs.

-yes, we can turn the e-fan PINs on prior to you installing them
-no you don't loose Flexfuel
-I assume you mean traditional/scan cable vs AutoCal: we do offer an upgrade discount
-with the traditional tune, you will need to find someone with a Tech II or similar to perform the crank relearn. With the cable tune, you can do the relearn yourself using the cable. With the AutoCal, relearn is not needed.
-Yes the relearn is needed with the cable tune
-with employment verification we do offer a LEO/first responder discount on tuning services.
