how do i turn off my headlights

the problem is i cant turn them off with the dome over ride button. i can press it more than a 100 times and nada nathing happens i have a 01 tahoe.

Should be able to press it 3 times in a row and they turn off. Make sure your light switch is in the off position too

thats what is odd about it. i can do what u said and it wont work.

do you have auto selection on your switch? if you do turn it to the left and the headlights will go out

just curious do the dome lights go on and off when your pressing the button?

Mine wont shut off either and wont stay in the shut off position at all. Im told its a canadian thing for safety.

If you are talking about the (daytime running lights) DRL's then no, you cannot shut them off. They are mandatory for canada and that is why your light switch doesn't have the fourth position that US trucks have. The fourth position is a spring return and has a little orange light to show the DRLs are off.
