My 06 tahoe has roughly 130k on it so I know it has tons of life left in it.

When my daughter's water pump started going out, there was no sound... I think you are firing the parts cannon prematurely. You might want to stick your head in the engine bay and trouble shoot a bit more. My understanding is that if the water pump is on the way out, it starts castinging off coolant via the weep hole. So unless you have a coolant leak, it probably is not the water pump.My '03 LT currently has around 96K on it. Here's a pic of it in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. Pretty neat place if you're ever in the area.
About to change the water pump to try and figure out this grinding noise that happens when I turn the A/C on.
Figure might as well since it's only like $200 worth of parts and seems like it won't take too long. Hope it's not the A/C compressor! That looks a lot more involved
