X2 what nortex said. Very little hp gain (and sometimes loss) is had from muffler modding and stock motors...

Sometimes because of loss in back pressure, you can lose some horsepower. I had a Super 40 Flowmaster docked in front of the axle on my '03 4.8L LS and I lost my bottom end torque but seemed more of a pull on the top end.

My '02 Z71 has a Magnaflow 3" in Dual 2.5" out the sides behind the tire and has great bottom end and top end :)

Both are rolled 3.5" Tips

no dyno tests or anything but I felt like I gained
I swapped out my stock for a Magnaflow Race series single in and single out with turn down before the axle
it was a lot quicker on low end and top end

I have Dynatecks LT headers with free flow cats and a Cherry bomb extreme 3" single inlet and two 2-75" outlets dumped right at the axle. I have a full tune and a built engine too.

if you paint your calipers red...and add a muffler...+80hp minimum.

not to 'make' torque, but too much of a free flowing exhaust can hamper and take away low end power.
