Hi in there. I just bought a nice 1997 tahoe 4x4 350 with a blown head gasket. I am tackling the job myself and have disconnected everything on the motor with no problem. Then came what should have been the easiest part; the harness to firewall. I have spread the two plastic clips and beat on the plug (down) for an hour and it won't budge. Am I missing something here or is it just stuck? Thanks

Even if you pull the engine you should pull the wiring harness off engine components. You have to do it that way any way.and there are at least 2 connections that can get crossed if not paying attention. No point in doing work not required. BTW get your hands on a scanner cuase you will need it to fine realign the distributor to prevent error codes or misfiring.

I am actually starting on mine this week.

Here is a six part video from youtube that will help walk you thru it . Just keep in mind that tecnically the 350 does not have to have the upper plenum removed first. I twill come out as one unit. If you do however still have the original injection spider system in the motor REPLACE IT NOW.

Why do you need to disconnect the harness to the firewall for a head swap??
