ok, a long time ago i took the intermediate steering shaft off to get the grease back to the top. during that process, the steering wheel spun and the air bag clock spring broke.
So, since the wife is pregnant, and she now drives the tahoe because she lost her job and just runs errands...i am now putting in a new clock springs. I bought a used steering column ($150)..took my old clock spring out, put the one from the used steering column and installed it today. Started up the truck and just wiggled the wheel and POP! this one busted...i am thinking it was maybe sorta messed up from the junk yard(maybe had been spun just shy of breaking?)....but no warranty on electrical parts from the junk yard...SOOO by stroke of luck i found one on Ebay for $100....this one is BRAND NEW with the little clip that prevents it from unwinding. so extra money that i didn't want to spend..but still cheaper than the 400 new the dealership wanted.
SO anyone know the correct procedure to install one? I just want to make sure that i don't have to spin my steering shaft to a certain position, in case that matters?
anyones help would be appreciated.
