I've been battling an appradio install. Dash fitting, you name it. I finally get the thing to fit and running when I notice it has ceased recognizing my iPhone attached to it. Pulled it and low and behold one of the tiny wires that plugs into the pin connector of the iPhone cable has pulled out. I have no idea how to put it back in.

I had planned on just running to bestbuy and using the protection plan to get a replacement, but now that I've read an hours worth of horror stories about their customer service and warranty plans I'm scared to make the hour drive to try my luck.

I'd rather try it myself before I bite bullet. Can someone teach me how you plug a loose wire back into a harness pin connector or whatever you call if? The damn wire is like small speaker wire so I can really just push it back in. Any help is appreciated.

If its into the harness there should be a metal connector on the end that "clicks" into place. It shouldn't be a stranded wire. Pics would also be helpful

There is a tool designed to remove those but, they have little metal barbs that hold them in place. You need to remove it and re-crimp it back on or buy a new one as most times they break off. You won't get it to sit in there without the metal end tho. I have a similar problem like that with my remote amp wire. I just crimped it back on and shoved it back in but the barbs are Broken so it just sits in there. I don't know what they are called sorry I couldn't help more

There should be a plastic barb or such that keeps the metal pins from coming out of the harness plug. I usually use a very small flathead screwdriver, pry between the barb and metal pin, and then pull the pin out the back of the plug!! Once it's out, bend back the metal tabs that normally are crimped around the wire, insert the wire and recrimp and reinstall the pin by just pushing it back in until it passes the barb and locks back in place!

If you happen to break the pin during any part of the process, you should be able to get a replacement pin from Radio Shack! If they don't have it in stock, they should be able to order one and have it shipped to your house for free if they order it from the store!

Think I'm gonna take it to my local stereo shop and beg them to fix it. Probably easier than dealing with bestbuy.

why not just pry out the metal pin and re-attach it to the wire and push it back into the plug?

Much to my chagrin I haven't figured out how to pry it out. I don't have small enough pliers. All I managed to do was bend the pin flush with the walls of the connector! So supremely frustrating since its the only thing keeping me from finishing this damn install!

By some miracle I managed to catch the Best Buy staff on a slow night or tired. They took one look at the busted cable and promptly handed me a brand new Appradio! I was prepared for the best possible solution of having them send the radio back to Pioneer for repair. Truly impressed with Best Buy tonight!
