Would a loss of brake fluid from a busted brake line cause a loss of power steering fluid from reservoir? I had a metal brake line rupture and now the brake fluid reservoir and power steering fluid reservoir are just about empty. The brake fluid deal is obvious, but not sure what happened to the power steering fluid. I know it was full cause I checked it prior to driving. Not seeing any leaks from the hydro boost or related lines for the power steering fluid, just the busted brake line on the frame.

The only way I can see these being related is that the brake line ruptured so the pedal is being pushed further (probably bottomed out) which tore an aged and worn seal in the booster, causing the leak of power steering fluid. But, you would see the leaked PS fluid somewhere.

OK well Ive read that the 2 systems of the hydro boost brakes are separated but Im only getting one puddle of fluid under the truck. I didnt know if somehow the PS fluid could be getting into the brake lines and running out together at the busted line. Gonna try to get it to a shop tomorrow and hopefully get it fixed.

The PSF could be inside of the brake booster if it failed, correct?

No, there is just the shaft from the hydroboost pushing on the brake booster piston. If the hydroboost seal fails there is a bleed hole for it to leak out between the hydroboost and the master cylinder. 2 completely separate systems.

If the brake pedal was allowed to go to the floor you can damage the seal in the hydroboost. Should be obvious where it's leaking behind the master cylinder onto the ground or the inner fender. The seal is like a $5-6 part.
