So I know I shouldn't use my factory Bose amp to power my JL Audio C2-650X. But I don't have the money or time to put in an aftermarket amp and I am worried about retaining my chimes and all that. Anyway if I put the speakers in with the bose amp am I going to hurt the speakers or the new head unit? The factory amp is not a huge concern as it will be getting replaced soon with a JL HD Audio 600/4

Ohm out the sub first to and make sure they are the same ohms. Your boat amp may not have enough power to drive them and may distort the signal

All the Bose speakers on previous models are 2 ohm and those JL's are 4 ohms which will be half as loud. Check your original speakers to be sure; you need to replace them with the same impedance.

So I am replacing all the speakers with the exception of the sub and tweeters which I can't figure out how to power the tweeters. So I'm replacing the the for speakers with the jl's dropping the tweeters and replacing head unit. I plan to replace amp with a jl HD 900/5 and replace sub at this time as well. So should I just wait to put jl's in until I put amp in?

I would wait. Otherwise the whole system will probably sound like crap with speakers that aren't matched to the amp. The stock amps have no gain adjustment to accommodate different speakers. Bose systems generally need to be replaced in their entirety. They did that on purpose, you know. They don't want us replacing their speakers with aftermarket.

Okay so I'm about to buy the 900/5 jl amp. Can I use that to power stock sub for now and how much functionality you think I might lose from pulling bose amp I did get the idatalink maestro ineffable with hopes of would help me keep much of it. Thanks for all your responses to.

Also is the 900/5 worth it you think? I'm not looking for killer bass just a little thump and I need to keep it stealth for the baby hauler

I'm not familiar with the '15's so not sure if you'll lose any functionality. The amp is nice but as far as trying to add more power to the stock sub...probably already driven hard as it will take. That's part of the reason Bose uses 2 ohm speakers- they don't need a ton of power. On my '02 Denali, I removed the OnStar (didn't work anyway), upgraded to a DD Sony HU with a PAC steering wheel control converter and didn't lose any functionality. Chimes still work, etc. Added a bu camera, replaced a blown Bose speaker and replaced the Bose sub with a 10"JL in a Thundermax enclosure in the rear side panel powered by a good amp. All stealth and an awesome hybrid system. Any reason you're replacing the Bose door speakers? Might do the HU first. Mine really woke up the speakers, then I just needed more bass.

All door speakers are blown. Well I just went for it. System as it stands now is pioneer 8100 with idatalink maestro rr jl 900/5 amp jl 650s. I don't want more power to stock but until I can figure out a good solution for stealth sub I'm holding off on that. I don't want jl stealthbox really is so pricey and I'm hoping I can find a better solution. Hopefully this will suffice for now. Tahoe is 09 hybrid
