Replacement key fob

From the Owner's Manual and I QUOTE
"Programming Transmitters to
the Vehicle
Only RKE transmitters programmed
to this vehicle will work. If a
transmitter is lost or stolen, a
replacement can be purchased and
programmed through your dealer.
Each vehicle can have up to
eight transmitters programmed to it.
See your dealer for transmitter
programming.""

yes I know what the manuel says, my question is does anyone know how I can program it without making an appointment and and going through the dealer. It can obv be done. Going to dealer equals, me without my car for a whole day and prob out about $250 cash as opposed to me in my driveway and a $50 oem fob from ebay. There are a lot of things I have done to the truck myself instead of asking and paying dealer to do. I was wondering if some like Chris who is familiar with the program of such devices has a quick fix? Thanks for any helpful input, I appreciate it..

I don't know about 2015+, but in 2011 they changed the NNBS so you couldn't do them yourself and had to be done through a dealer or locksmith with the expensive tool

I have done 2012 and 2014 PPV tahoe in the parking lot at work. Obivously a lil less involved with just the keyless fob for the doors.

The transponder keys on 2007-2014s can be programmed in the parking lots. Post 2011 remotes have to be programmed through Tech 2.

Hey so I know this is the new section but I have the same question for my 2006 Denali xl. I only have one remote for my truck but I have two ignition keys. I just ordered a new on eBay through gmpartsAmerica.com and I want to know if I can program mine for my 2006 myself or if I have to take it down the mountain to the a dealership. Is it possible on my 2006 to do it myself?

You can program it yourself....they should include instructions in the package.

I've added 2 more to my '15 Yukon.
I picked them up on ebay for next to nothing, but they were used.
After trying myself using the method in the manual, and having the dealer attempt I thought it could't be done without buying a new $150/200 replacement

The pairing process in the manual is straight forward, but can not be done with "used" fobs

I found a site that will "refurb" them for $25 and clear the original pairing and give you a blank key valet blade. (He will even cut it for an additional fee, either you provide the cut code or he can get it for you)

Once I got the two fobs back from him, I had them paired in minutes.

Lowest price I could find "new" unpaired fobs on ebay was around $90, dealer wanted $200
Bought mine for $10 and almost threw them out when the dealer said they were useless.
